Embriogyn launches the WITNESS
Embriogyn has just installed a new system for the control and traceability of all the samples that are being worked on in its vitro fertilization laboratory.

This new system is called RI Witness, developed in UK and has as main objective to ensure maximum safety in the identification and manipulation of the ovules, sperm and embryos of couples who undergo a fertility treatment at the Embriogyn Clinic.

The bioavigation systems are a recommendation of the European Union and Embriogyn is one of the top ten centers in Spain and the first in the province of Tarragona that is committed to implementing it.

In particular, the RI Witness system helps prevent potential errors by supervising the human team of the laboratory and the traceability during the manipulation of gametes and embryos safely and reliably. It becomes an extra level of security to reduce a possible error to zero as it warns before this potential error could occur. Working protocols used to date in Embriogyn already ensure a rigorous control of the identity of the samples.

With Witness, a step towards excellence

We know that an electronic control system offers patients greater confidence and confidence that all the procedures are carried out correctly throughout the treatment. The identification of the samples is guaranteed and the patients can see it in each step that is done from the beginning to the end. It is also a more transparent sample from Embriogyn to its patients, since we understand that systems like these allow us to understand the working protocols of an Assisted Reproduction laboratory where all the details are taken care of so that success is resounding.

The management of the quality and safety of the Assisted Reproduction laboratory is a priority for Embriogyn. So from the application of this new system, all the activity is registered and supervised in the work areas where samples are handled 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. The philosophy of the Embriogyn team is clear, to take all the additional measures and the necessary controls to be at the forefront and respond to the needs of the patients.



The tester system uses radiofrequency to detect and monitor the entire activity of the Assisted Reproduction laboratory. The system helps to reduce to zero the risk of human error every time there is a manipulation of samples since each step is guaranteed that is realized and even demands double controls in certain points of entrance and exit of samples.

Patients are given a card with a unique code
All materials that contain samples (plates, tubes, etc.) have an RFID (microchip) radio tag that is activated automatically when approaching a work area.
From the collection of ovules and the delivery of the spermatic sample to the transfer of embryos, biopsy or the storage of frozen embryos, plates that contain samples are recorded and self-evaluated automatically and constantly
In the key points, the system will also request double human control to allow the next step.
Any unexpected procedure is detected and the system alerts the embryologist
Each step controls the patient's data (name, surname, history number, sample type, point of the process where it is located)
